WHAT MY BOOK IS ABOUT:

After 14 years as a Lutheran pastor, I found my faith increasingly challenged by serious doubt, a period in my life that culminated in a new sense of calling — one of travel and adventure in search of the light that had all but disappeared from my life — in search of the Divine.

I gave away most of my belongings, put the rest in storage, and rented out my house. After an anxious search the perfect vehicle found me — a 19-foot van conversion I named Roadcinante — and I packed up what my dogs Connor and Beasley and I would need for our nine months on the road.

From the Atlantic to the Pacific…

…through deserts and over mountains…

I was obsessed with this mystery: Where was God in the midst of the world’s profound suffering?

The book I wrote about my journey — “Chasing Light: One Van, Two Dogs, and an Ex-Pastor’s Search for the Divine” — is currently being read by several agents. Stay tuned!

And who would I be now, without the faith that had seen me through so much unimaginable loss?
